This is a blog about my passion for the Cadillac automobile, specifically those made in from right around 1960 up until 1976, which was the last year before government regulations forced Cadillac to downsize their vehicles (although 1977 and succeeding years produced Cadillacs that were – by today’s standards especially – no small cars).
I’ve owned five different Cadillacs – a 1975 El Dorado hardtop, two different 1976 Devilles, a 1989 Deville and a 1997 El Dorado. They were all fun cars to varying degrees, and I learned a lot about Cadillacs in owning them.
Although I know a lot more than probably most people, I don’t propose myself as Cadillac expert. What I’d like to share is my passion and knowledge for these wonderful cars. There are others out there with much more knowledge and experience than me, and I hope that my readers will include some of these people and that they might contribute to this blog along the way.
So why Cadillacs from roughly 1960 to 1976? Well to me, this relatively long period was when GM was producing the most beautiful and magnificent Cadillacs. I think there are many great Cadillacs made before and after that period, but to me that is the sweet spot. The size has something to do with it. The largest Cadillacs ever made were made in this period and it’s no coincidence that we won’t focus on Caddies made after 1976. I love the long straight lines, the elegant yet brash attitude and the simple yet powerful confidence that these cars exude. Having said that, I may occasionally stray from that period of time when I find something interesting to write about.
So I hope you’ll find join me and find something entertaining and fun in this blog. I hope it encourages you to get your own Cadillac if you don’t already own one. Thanks for reading and there’s more to come soon.
